Capital sentencing news and notes
Though Booker action has most of my attention, there is a lot of remarkable capital sentencing news worthy of a quick review:
- TalkLeft here and SCOTUSblog here has the latest on the twists and turns in the federal death penalty case against Zacarias Moussaoui.
- In North Carolina, as detailed here, defense lawyers are challenging the state's lethal injection protocol for an execution scheduled for Friday
- Back at SCOTUSblog here, you can read about famed Texas capital defendant Johnny Paul Penry's latest possible trip to the Supreme Court.
- And, speaking of Texas, as detailed here, the state executed its fifth death row defendant in 2006 this evening.
