Another amazing blog year

It has now been exactly two years since my first post.  (For my own record keeping, I must note that this is post number 3211, which means I've barely slowed down since my last blogiversary).  As I explained last year, when I started this blog, I never could have predicted that the Supreme Court and others would do so much to make sentencing law and policy so dynamic and interesting and blog-worthy.  I also never expected to make so many friends and learn so much through this medium. I am sincerely grateful for all the help, encouragement and thanks that I have received from so many (cyber)sentencing compatriots.

To celebrate another blogiversary, I have created these new category indexes in order to better archive some of my "meta" posts:

I have not yet found time to re-file all my old posts into these new categories, but each index is complete for 2006 posts.

Thanks so much for this: in particular, I appreciate the 'recommended reading,' as such stuff is invaluable for blokes like me, i.e., formally outside this field and thus utterly dependent on experts for guidance insofar as we want to learn a bit on our own (say, as an avocational intellectual pursuit). It's the next best thing to a formal education, and a whole lot cheaper! Indeed, and at the risk of being presumptuous, I was wondering if at some point you might post a small reading list (books and articles) that would serve as a basic introduction and orientation to sentencing law and policy (and penumbrae) for an educated layperson.

Again, deep gratitude from a new and already loyal reader.

Hi, as a graduating (next week!) law student and future criminal appellate defense attorney, I really enjoy your blog, the recommended reading, and links to relevant articles. Thank you so much.

Happy blogiversary. I am very grateful that you have provided such a resourceful and educational blog. Three years ago, I was very uneducated about the law. I knew of only one SC justice, did not have any interest in how the legal system work or about constitutional rights. You can say, I had no reason to be involved or care. Since then, your blog has made it so easy be knowledgeable about the law and other significant process that we all should be conscious of. You have definitely educated society by providing such a powerful resource. Others will stay uneducated just as I was until life throw them a legal curve. Again, Thank you.
