Some local coverage of the new prison numbers from Pew
The report on state prison populations released yesterday by the folks at Pew (covered here) has prompted lots of notable and valuable local coverage of state prison realities. Here is a sampling:

Only watched the linked Michigan story but it's incredible how twisted the coverage is. Ridiculous headlines like "INMATE NUMBERS PLUNGE!!!" and typical fear-mongering without mentioning that the number of prisoners in the US has almost tripled since 1990.
