The story behind the story
To the list of famous names like Gideon, Miranda, Katz, Terry, Furman, McClesky that have shaped the modern criminal justice system, we now add Blakely. (Feel free to add the names I have missed in the comments.) In all that will surely be written about the Blakely case and its aftermath, we perhaps ought not forget the man, Ralph Howard Blakely, behind the now famous case that bears his name. However, this article about Ralph Howard Blakely's latest doings suggests we might indeed want to forget him very soon.

As friend of Ralph Blakely, I have monitored his cases & assisted where needed. Although without formal training, I am compelled to tell his story which includes suffering under the oppression of corrupt officials.
John Knodell abused the office of Grant County Washington Prosecutor by conspiracy to entrap & vindictively prosecute Blakely.
Knodell convinced state AG Gregoire to allow him to argue the case before the USSC.
Justice Scalia scolded Knodell for promoting sentence beyond state limits, while media & Knodell's family were present in court.
One week before release of the opinion which invalidated the sentence, Knodell obtained sentencing judge's authorization on a new warrant that alleged Blakely solicited a planted prison informant for the murder of Blakely's wife & daughter.
Currently Blakely is serving a 35 year sentence based on a conviction with court failing to hold proceedings to determine veracity of primary witness & motives of prosecutor in response to defense motions to dismiss for entrapment & vindictive prosecution.
Blakely maintains his innocence in both cases, & recently USDC of WAED administrator returned his Habeas Corpus Petition without proceedings.
He wants the truth to come out, but the local authorities won't allow scrutiny of their cover up.
