Recent commentary on this election season's criminal justice initiatives
It is now just weeks until the election, and thus the time for full-throated pitches on the important criminal justice initiatives coming before voters in various states. Here are some recent commentary and editorials:
-
From Debra Saunders in California: "Save the death penalty"
-
Two from the Denver Post in Colorado: "Amendment 64: Should pot be legal in Colorado? No; Colorado can't put our kids at risk" and "Amendment 64: Should pot be legal in Colorado? Yes; End senseless marijuana prohibition"
- From the Seattle Times in Washington: "Approve Initiative 502 — It’s time to legalize, regulate and tax marijuana"

Prof. Berman, thanks for the Saunders article.
The SF Chronicle talks to Mark Klaas about "Richard Allen Davis, the man who kidnapped [from a slumber party], toyed with and then killed Klaas' 12-year-old daughter, Polly, in 1993. A jury found Davis guilty and sentenced him to death in 1996.
A/ Davis taunted, laughed, and gestured at the family in court again and again.
B/ "three jurors wept as they looked at photographs of Polly's small, headless body...legs splayed apart and clothing pushed above the waist." http://articles.latimes.com/
C/ "Klaas wants to see Davis executed…he cites…17-year-old Chelsea King in 2010…14-year-old Amber Dubois, Gardner [the convicted sex offender] went for a deal."
D/ [Davis] admitted to killing King… "You take the death penalty off the table, crimes will not be solved. Victims will not be recovered."

D/ "[T]he Canadian Coalition Against the Death Penalty hosts a Richard Allen Davis home page, [whereat] the convicted killer displays "hand-painted wood hobby craft items," which he made"
C/ "posts photos of himself…Talks about whether one such as he can "ever fall back in love with life again?""
B/ "invites interested parties to write to him at San Quentin, &ct, &ct."
A/ "Thanks to a highly successful defense lobby and federal judges
who have stalled the enforcement of California law, only 13 of the
state's 700-plus death-row inmates have been executed since 1992."

No one's stopping you from writing what you think, Claudio. Just try to write in a coherent manner and don't spread distortions and outright lies. By the way, you really ought to begin sentences with a capital letter.

Fashion jewelry is affordable, beautiful and surprisingly will last a long time with a little money.
