The US is somewhat unique demographically in that we have a large rural population. This does not bode well for electing/appointing progressive prosecutors throughout our nation. Because there are many states that have a larger rural population than metropolitan population the changes that need to be made that would benefit decarceration will probably take much longer then many of us can imagine.

Tommy may be right, but these recent protests, combined with the economic pressures of COVID, may provide additional impetus to allow for such changes in a timely fashion, or so my optimism tells me.
